Are you travelling to Israel and passionate about animal welfare? Animal sanctuaries across the country desperately need dedicated in-person volunteers to help maintain shelters, care for rescued animals, and support daily operations. 

Sanctuaries operate around the clock to provide care for vulnerable animals. Many sanctuaries are located in rural areas. Your safety comes first; figure out the transportation rout in advance, do not go on isolated roads. Its best to travel in a group or by car. Listen to instructions regarding safety protocols with in the sanctuary/farm. Make sure to have health insurance! For updates regarding volunteer opportunities visit:

Visiting a sanctuary is important for two reasons; to help with daily chores and be their ambassador overseas, and share the information with your friends.  The animal situation in Israel is very difficult, animals suffer, the rescuers struggle to help them and the government hardly helps. Sanctuaries and animal rescuers depend on donations and need volunteers.  Also, while in Israel please feed the street cats, place food in a safe location, not near a busy road. thank you!

Caution; Rescued animals are often fearful. Do not pet dogs or any animals unless the sanctuary permits.  Do not bring children!      I recommend packing lunch, water, a hat, sunscreen and sanitary wipes. I would bring extra cloths, to change at the end of the day. Also a First Aid Kit is recommended. Make sure to have health insurance. thank you!!

Yossi saves many animals; goats, horses, donkeys, hamsters, rabbits, chickens, parrots, and dogs.

Yossi has been rescuing and rehabilitating animals for ten years. He placed more than 100 dogs in good homes. Many arrived at his sanctuary when they were injured and sick. Yossi took them to the veterinary and treated them until they recovered. Obviously, the expenses to manage the sanctuary are huge.

He also has a dog pension.

SHANTI Rescue Farm, Location: ATLIT

Love dogs? Cats? Got a morning free?  Volunteer at Shanti Farm.

Shanti Farm (just 10 mins from Haifa / 1 hour from Tel Aviv) is home to 200+ rescue dogs and dozens of sweet cats and they need YOU!

We’re especially looking for dog-walking volunteers, even just one morning makes a HUGE difference.

Walks are short (about 15 mins each) so you can walk up to 19 dogs in a session. And yes — cuddling cats is always encouraged too!

When? 2 shifts: 7am-11 am and 4 pm - 7 pm Daily

Safe room on-site. Volunteers of all experience levels welcome (no children please – many dogs are large).

Keren Or Farm operates almost exclusively by volunteers, who come to the farm at all hours of the day, 7 days a week, and fulfill all the farm's needs, from caring for all the farm animals - cleaning, feeding, walking and playing, medical care and giving endless love to these pure creatures, through performing all maintenance, cleaning and construction tasks on the farm to volunteering in various areas of management and professional services that are required on an ongoing basis.

Just south of Jerusalem in the Judean Hills, Na'aleh Therapy Farm is a place where rescued animals, the land, and people heal side by side.

Volunteers can help with: Animal care, Gardening, Building projects, Farm maintenance, Event support

Individuals, families, youth groups, and organizations are all welcome. Please note that housing is not available.

By public transportation: Take Bus 360 from Jerusalem to Efrat and get off at the last stop (Shevat HaTe'ena). From there it's about a 5-minute walk to the farm. You can also call for walking directions.
