Rescue donkeys in Israel
In Israel and the surrounding region; donkeys are too often subjected to neglect, abuse, they are forced into carrying unbearable loads, or abandoned when injured. Dedicated sanctuaries in Israel offer donkeys & horses emergency rescue, intensive medical care, and a safe, peaceful retirement. They need your support to maintain the sanctuary and care for the donkeys/ horses.

Pegasus Society rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of horses and donkeys
Pegasus is an Israeli non-profit organization located in central Israel and works around the clock, to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abused, mistreated and abandoned horses and donkeys.
HOPE was discovered critically injured along the Route 6 highway. She underwent life-saving surgery at the Beit Dagan Veterinary Hospital. Today, cared for by the Pegasus Society Rescue, she is thriving and adapting gracefully to life as a three-legged mare.
Pegasus Rescue Society asks for support, to sponsor a donkey or a horse: "We are sure you would like to adopt a donkey or a horse and provide them with a better life, but most of us do not have the means to do this. Let us take care of them, rescue and nurture them. We will give them a carrot in the morning, in your name. All you need to do is sponsor one our rescued donkeys or horses. Thank You!"

Starting Over Sanctuary
Starting Over needs your help. You can adopt a donkey virtually, donate or visit the sanctuary; located in Moshav Herut. (Central Israel)
Starting Over writes on their site: We are a nonprofit organization involved with rescuing animals. The organization takes care of and rehabilitates animals rescued from the streets and livestock industries. The sanctuary is home to animals rescued from all over the country that suffered horrible abuse and neglect or abandonment. At the sanctuary they receive a chance to live free, receive love and peace and in fact start over. Our sanctuary is a place of refuge for the animals that come here, but also for the people who visit.
The sanctuary works to promote education and advocates for the love of animals, seeing each other and raising public awareness for the protection of animals and their rights for the purpose of building a solidary, healthy and tolerant society.
Their website is in Hebrew, English and French.
Safe Haven for Donkeys
They write on their website: The organization was established in Year 2000 with the aim of helping the thousands of donkeys working in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Today, our shelter in Israel provides lifelong care for over 180 unwanted and exploited donkeys of all ages, and the charity work does not stop at the shelter gates: Every month, our mobile clinic helps 500 working donkeys, mules and horses throughout Israel and the Palestinian territories, and we treat dozens of animals a day.
Common injuries such as these, caused by the use of cheap work equipment, overgrown hooves and poor teeth, can be easily treated and make a significant improvement in the lives of animals who work so hard for so little.
Counselling and education are key parts of the organization's work with owners and their children. Through our dedication and gentle approach, our staff has many members who treat them with trust and respect.
Please help us continue our vital work; caring for the residents of the safe haven and rescue donkeys who pull carts, carry heavy loads or are abandoned when they are too old or injured to work.
