Basic facts, from Arad LeHai ​

In the Negev region we have a severe crisis regarding stray dogs and cats. There are estimations that 20,000 stray dogs wonder through the Negev region. Hundreds of dogs live here in Arad and the outskirts of the city. These dogs and puppies are faced with many dangers; getting run over by cars, diseases, hunger and thirst, abuse by bad people, severe cold in the winter and extreme heat in the summer.

 

​Since the war that started in October 2023, the stray dog crisis has worsened.

Not only are there less adoptions but many people had to abandon their dogs in order to flee to safety and survive. Many Israeli families are unable to adopt a pet due to financial difficulties during the war and are unable to properly care for these animals. Since the war started, the amount of donations has declined dramatically. The situation is very severe. 
If we do not receive donations, our ability to save animals will be very limited.

Our volunteers do not get any financial compensation. They help in different ways; Helping rescue dogs and cats in distress, Fostering dogs and cats, Taking pets to the Vet an to Adoption Days located in different cities in Israel.

On a daily basis, we feed 70 dogs and 150 cats who live outside in Arad and in the desert. (Many dogs live in the industrial zone and landfills near Arad)

​In the past two years we decided to neuter stray dogs. This prevents the birth of more puppies who will live outside in harsh conditions. (Since there are not enough homes/adoptions.) Capturing and neutering strays is a complicated and costly operation.

Most of the dogs and cats we care for have serious medical conditions that demand complicated veterinary care. The medical bills are thousands of shekels each month, and sometimes even tens of thousands of shekels in one month. These incredibly high costs threaten the existence of our non-profit organization. בהסגר ישנם גורים ובוגרים בכל הצבעים והמינים ובגדלים בינוניים ומעלה. א למי גם יכולים לקרב אותם למרכז הארץ במידה ויהיו אימוצים רציניים.

עוד ועוד ועוד דיווחים על חתולות בהריון מתקדם ברחובות של ערד ואנחנו פשוט מיואשים עיריית ערד מתעלמת ועיקור של חתולה בהריון בביה״ח הוטרינרי בעומר עולה לנו (אחרי הנחת עמותה) בין 500-600 ש״ח

החתולות האלה צריכות אותנו ואנחנו צריכים את התמיכה שלכם כדי לעקר אנחנו קוראים קריאת מצוקה נואשת, אנחנו לא מסוגלים יותר לראות את הסבל של חתולי הרחוב בערד ואנחנו כעמותה כבר קורסים תחת העומס!

There are more and more pregnant cats on the streets of Arad. The Arad municipality ignores the problem and refuses to sterilize the cats. The costs are around 500NIS to 600NIS to sterilize one cat. These cats depend on us. The kittens will live a horrific life; living on the streets in this harsh climate without food, water or shelter. The Amuta/non profit can't handle all these costs. We need your help!
